Artisan Post #15: Book Treat Box Super Tags

For Christmas I love to create hand-made tags to give presents presence so I have designed these super tags that can double as ornaments.

These Book Treat Box tags have been embellished with the Reindeer Days 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper, the Reindeer Fun Dies, and the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set. These tags are two gifts in one; a fancy tag for a package that can be also be hung as an ornament.

In the photo you will see the products I used to create these super tags. Mostly, I focused on the Reindeer Days Suite Collection.

To begin, cut about an inch off of the tab of a Book Treat Box. Next, use a Bone Folder to burnish the folds on both the outer and inner pieces of the Book Treat Box. Then cover the outside of the box with a piece of Reindeer Days DSP. Before assembling the inner box add another piece of Reindeer Days DSP. Assemble the inner box.

Cut a window in the non-tabbed end of the outer Book Treat Box piece using one of the Nested Essentials Dies. Save the inside of the window piece for later.

Decorate the inside of the inner box with die cuts and fussy cut images. For added dimension cut a strip of Window Sheet about 4 1/2” x 1”. Score a 1/2” at each end to create tabs. Fold on the tabs and burnish with a Bone Folder. Add die cut and fussy cut elements to the strip and then insert into the box. Now the inner box can be added to the outer box.

Here's a closer look at the dimension and the details inside the box.

Use a few more of the Greetings of the Season images to add a “to” and “from” label to the back of the Book Treat Boxes tags.

Bonus! While all your supplies are out, make a few more tags with the scraps.

Creation Station Goes Into the Night

Welcome to our October Creation Station Blog Hop. This month's theme "Into the Night" is perfect for the upcoming spooky season. I created a night scene with a bit of DSP and a couple die sets.

To set the scene I used the tree frame piece from the Reindeer Days set of Dies. Next, I wanted to add a spooky night sky so I backed the tree frame with a piece of Thoughtful Journey DSP. For the greeting and leaves I used the Every Celebration Dies. To liven up the scene I included a watercolored owl. I quick swoosh of Blackberry Bliss and Misty Moonlight Inks brought the owl to life and made for a perfect match for the sky.

Whisper White and Wink of Stella splatter give the illusion of stars dotting the sky. And to finish it all up I tucked a few Smoky Slate Pearls and a black double-loop bow to the card.

Are you ready for Mikaela? She is ''next up" in our Into the Night hop. I think you are going to totally love what she has come up with for this hop. I will catch you in November for another Creation Station hop.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop "Autumn Abundance"

The time has arrived for another A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop. This past month's Autumn Abundance Kit is fantotallytastic!! Here are just two of my alternative projects that feature bits and pieces from the Kit and a few added supplies.

My first card here includes a half sheet of Misty Moonlight cardstock, Natural Tones Linen Thread, and Adhesive Backed Metallic Gems. Once I trimmed one of the Kit's card bases down to size I splattered it with a bit of Wild Wheat and SU100 Stampin' Blends and then ran it through the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder.

For this card I only used the Kit pieces except for a shoestring bow of Natural Tones Linen Thread.

Thank you for visiting my blog today and for sharing in the fun of Paper Pumpkin alternative projects. Click on the "next blog" button to continue hopping. I will see you all next month for October's Nests of Winter Paper Pumpkin alternatives.

#TGIF493 Classic October Colors

Orange and black are to me the most iconic October colors. Trends come and go and we see fun color combinations for the fall. Yet still, black and orange stand supreme as THE colors for the season. Over at #TGIF493 we are combining Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, and Very Vanilla.

I put together a simple card that features shades of Pumpkin Pie die cut leaves and a quick greeting. I used the leaf from the Every Celebration set of Dies to cut my leaves and then colored with them with Pumpkin Pie and Peach Pie Stampin' Blends to get a variety of pumpkin tones. I backed the line up of leaves with a panel of Very Vanilla that was dry embossed with the Forever Plaid 3D Folder.
