Slide and Lock for Monday Montage

Welcome stampin' friends to another Monday Montage Blog Hop.  For today's share I'm showing you my version of a Slide and Lock style card perfect for a gentleman.

I've used the Well Suited Suite to put this manly card together.  What makes this a Slide and Lock card is the focal point slides to the left to unlock and open the card.

Just sandwich two pieces of cardstock with a couple centered Stampin' Dimensionals for your focal point, notch out a portion of the card like I've shown in the photo below, and insert finished focal point.

Blossom Inspiration Board Challenge

Hand Stamped Sentiments #364

The theme for the current inspiration challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is all about blossoms. Just take a look at the beautiful budding blossoms in each of the photos.  With that theme I turned to the Free As A Bird Stamp Set because I knew it was a perfect match for the challenge.  It's also one of those stamp sets that guarantees a gorgeous finish no matter how you stamp it.

I layered all my fussy-cut watercolored pieces on a top fold card base of Basic Grey.  My ink colors include Black, Petal Pink, Rococo Rose (retired), Old Olive, and Smokey Slate.  I stamped on Basic White Cardstock and used an Aquapainter to add some quick swooshes of color.

Hand Stamped Flamingo

I had the perfect supplies on my stamp table to create a Friendly Flamingo card in Hand Stamped Sentiments latest challenge colors.  Right in the Fine Art Floral DSP there are Flirty Flamingo, Bumble Bee, and Pool Party tones.  I cut three random sized pieces of that DSP to make a background for my focal elements.

Along with the Friendly Flamingo Stamp Set I used four die sets.  The first set was the retiring Stitched Nesting Labels, next I used the Forever Flourishing Dies to cut the Brass Foil leaves, the Floral Heart Dies for the greeting banner, and the last set was the Flamingo Dies which match the Friendly Flamingo Stamp Set.  To dress it all up I added a swoop of Just Jade Ribbon and Artisty Blooms Sequins.

Creation Station: What Do You Sea?

Hi and welcome to another Creation Station Blog Hop.  This month's theme is "What Do You Sea" and that could mean anything beach, ocean, lake, or river and stream theme.

While on a Panama Canal cruise we saw lots of beautiful, spunky, colorful, unique, dilapidated, and glorious sites.  One day of the cruise we docked in Cartegena Colombia and were greeted with a flamboyance of flamingos.  Having never seen flamingos in real life I was struck by how fragile their legs looked.  I remember the array of coral and pink tones and being mesmerized by their movements.

Having never bought any flamingo stamps before I chose to add the Friendly Flamingos Bundle to my collection.  I also had my eye on the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper and could see how perfectly the colors and style would pair with my new stamps and dies.

Here is what I did to make the base of this stair step style fold card
  • Cut one Petal Pink piece of cardstock at 5 1/2" x 11"
  • Score along the long side at 1 1/4", 4", and 6 3/4"
  • Fold on the scorelines in a back and forth manner.
  • Cut three pieces of DSP: one @ 1" x 5 1/4", one @ 2 1/2" x 5 1/4", and one @ 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Cut one piece of Basic White @ 2 1/2" x 5 1/4"
  • Emboss the largest piece of DSP with the Painted Texture EF
  • Add Gilded Leafing to one piece using Versamark Ink and Heat & Stick Powder
  • Stamp the Basic White with Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay Ink

To make the belly band for the card
  • Cut a strip of Vellum Cardstock @ 2 1/2" x 11", wrap it around the card, trim the excess, and glue the ends together
  • Using the Stitched Nesting Dies cut a Basic White label and stamp water image with Bermuda Bay Ink and rub a little more ink with a Blending Brush
  • Stamp and die cut the leaves, flowers, and flamingo
  • Cut a Petal Pink banner using the Floral Heart Dies
  • Mold the "Happy Birthday image on a block in a curved manner to match the banner then stamp it with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
  • Assemble all the pieces with Stampin' Dimensionals and Mini Glue Dots
  • Tie a shoestring bow using the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack and add with a Glue Dot
  • Stick Champagne Rhinestones to the centers of each flower

Thanks for stopping by and "seeing what I saw" on my Panama Canal cruise.  Next up is one of my most very favorite stampers EVER, the beautiful Mikaela Titheridge.  Click over and be inspired by her lovely stampin'.
