Fabric Friday

I have an announcement for all of you.  Please join me every Friday for a fun and fantastic fabric based project.  That's right each Friday I plan to share a project featuring the designer fabrics from Stampin' Up!.

Today's project is a big bag that I made which is perfect for heading out to the beach.  This bag is huge.  I didn't follow a pattern.  Instead I just started snippin' and rippin' strips of Flirtatious Designer Fabric and then I sewed them together.  From there I added the bottom of the bag which is a light weight canvas from the remnant bin at my local fabric store.

For the closure I stitched a casing and added Twill Tape for a drawstring.  The drawstring allows the bag to open wide for stuffing lots of stuff inside.  Speaking of the inside, it is fully lined for added stability and panache.

A few Designer Buttons from Stampin' Up! were added to the bottom sides to give the bag some character.  And, to finish the bag and add a little stampin', I made a woodsheet tag cut from the Top Note Big Shot die.  I stamped the tag with the Delicate Doilies stamp set, which coordinates perfectly with the Flirtatious fabric.  For the tag focal I cut fabric letters from the Simple Alphabet Big Shot dies to spell "bag."  At first the letters were not beefy enough for me so I kept cutting and layering more letters from the woodsheets and achieved the look I was envisioning.

To see more handmade projects click over to Passionately Artistic for some great inspriation.  I hope you have enjoyed my first Fabric Friday.  Stop by next week for another fabric project.

Happy craftin, Elizabeth
