Creation Station: the Great Outdoors

It's July, can you believe it?  Being that it's the first Sunday of the month it's time for a Creation Station Blog Hop.  This month's theme is "the great outdoors" and for this hop we can feature animals, lakes, beaches, rivers, trees, or any outdoor form of recreation or beauty.  My take on this challenge is to showcase the Wildlife Wonder Stamp Set.

The most perfect pairing with this stamp set is the newly retired New Horizons DSP.  I truly hope you have a pack of this AMAZING printed paper.  It's glorious in all ways and it sets the stage for my "great outdoor" scenes beautifully.

For my first card you may notice I did some mirror image stamping.  I stamped the bear on a Silicon Craft Mat, next I placed a piece of the New Horizon DSP on top of the image, and then I rubbed the paper to transfer the ink.  It ends up a little bit lighter and not quite as crisp, but it's so worth it.

I wanted to add cards to my stash that were more masculine appealing.  So, these cards are more linear and less filled with frills like bows and rhinestones.  This "sending birthday wishes" card is embellished with a wrap of twine tied in a simple knot.  Take a close look to see the twine features hand-rolled paper beads.

Hands down my favorite image in the Wildlife Wonder Stamp Set is the bear.  All three of the cards include the bear and each was stamped on the New Horizon DSP.  I love how the paper colors peek through the stamped images.  It's quick, it's effortless, and it's awesome.

This last card is what I call a kick stand card.  What you do for this card is to cut twice to the fold line, lift the narrow section, and then glue a panel of DSP underneath.  What's cool is this gives you loads of layers and options to add more details to your card.

I didn't photo the inside of the card, but I wanted you to know that the "you mean so much to me" layer opens to reveal the inside of the card.

  4. I really didn't care for this stamp set until I looked at your beautiful creations. Stamping on the Horizons dsp makes all the difference in their interpretation. I really enjoyed these cards. Thanks for inspiring and showing an alternative that works beautifully.
