Hi and welcome to another Creation Station Blog Hop. This month's theme is "What Do You Sea" and that could mean anything beach, ocean, lake, or river and stream theme.
While on a Panama Canal cruise we saw lots of beautiful, spunky, colorful, unique, dilapidated, and glorious sites. One day of the cruise we docked in Cartegena Colombia and were greeted with a flamboyance of flamingos. Having never seen flamingos in real life I was struck by how fragile their legs looked. I remember the array of coral and pink tones and being mesmerized by their movements.
Having never bought any flamingo stamps before I chose to add the Friendly Flamingos Bundle to my collection. I also had my eye on the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper and could see how perfectly the colors and style would pair with my new stamps and dies.
Here is what I did to make the base of this stair step style fold card
- Cut one Petal Pink piece of cardstock at 5 1/2" x 11"
- Score along the long side at 1 1/4", 4", and 6 3/4"
- Fold on the scorelines in a back and forth manner.
- Cut three pieces of DSP: one @ 1" x 5 1/4", one @ 2 1/2" x 5 1/4", and one @ 4" x 5 1/4"
- Cut one piece of Basic White @ 2 1/2" x 5 1/4"
- Emboss the largest piece of DSP with the Painted Texture EF
- Add Gilded Leafing to one piece using Versamark Ink and Heat & Stick Powder
- Stamp the Basic White with Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay Ink
To make the belly band for the card
- Cut a strip of Vellum Cardstock @ 2 1/2" x 11", wrap it around the card, trim the excess, and glue the ends together
- Using the Stitched Nesting Dies cut a Basic White label and stamp water image with Bermuda Bay Ink and rub a little more ink with a Blending Brush
- Stamp and die cut the leaves, flowers, and flamingo
- Cut a Petal Pink banner using the Floral Heart Dies
- Mold the "Happy Birthday image on a block in a curved manner to match the banner then stamp it with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
- Assemble all the pieces with Stampin' Dimensionals and Mini Glue Dots
- Tie a shoestring bow using the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack and add with a Glue Dot
- Stick Champagne Rhinestones to the centers of each flower
Thanks for stopping by and "seeing what I saw" on my Panama Canal cruise. Next up is one of my most very favorite stampers EVER, the beautiful Mikaela Titheridge. Click over and be inspired by her lovely stampin'.
