Monday Montage

It's Monday Montage Blog Hop time which means I get to share what I have been stamping lately. And, I get to hop with some uber talented stampers whom I am so glad to have as friends.  For this hop I have put together a card that includes a splash of what is left of summer, yes it's still t-shirt and flip flop weather where I live, and the colors gently imply a welcome to fall.

I have used the Abstract Impressions Stamp Set with the Springtime Impressions Thinlits and Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I few pieces of the Garden Impressions DSP was the starting point for my color palette.  Keeping it crisp and clean I chose to go with a white card base.  Specifically Whisper White Thick Cardstock.
Take a close look at the greeting and you will see there are two colors of ink.  The top row is stamped with Blueberry Bushel and the bottom row is with Night of Navy.  To do this super quick and easy I cut the greeting apart with Craft and Rubber Scissors (retired).  It's a little freaky cutting apart a rubber stamp, but so cool.  I like how these two colors are subtly mixed in the Garden Impressions DSP which is where I got the idea to two-tone the greeting on my card.
Your next stop along the hop is with the awesome Julie Warnick.  Click the next button below to link up with her, or click the back button to visit with the super talented Dani Dziama.

#TGIF179

I have been making lots of stamp painted backgrounds lately so it made total sense to use one for this new challenge at TGIF.  Creating your very own background is the theme for this weeks #TGIF179 technique challenge.  Whatever you can come up with for a custom background fits this theme.  Are you going to try it out?  Do it.  Stamp it.  Link it at #TGIF179.
I painted my night time background with the tree trunk image from the Winter Woods Stamp Set using Pacific Point, Blueberry Bushel, Night of Navy, Fresh Fig, and Blackberry Bliss Ink Pads.  I used the same image to paint the moon but used Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, and Pumpkin Pie Inks.  The trick is paint first then cut your design.

See how to make this card on my Facebook Live Video.
I cut the tree die from the new Black Foil Paper three times for my card.  I wrapped them in spider webs made with a glue gun.  I shared how to make the webs on a Facebook Live Video along with how to make this background.  You can find the video on my Seeing Inkspots Facebook Page.
The greeting comes from the Takeout Treats Stamp Set.  I inked up with Pumpkin Pie, Blueberry Bushel, and Black Stazon.  I brayed the Diamonds Glimmer Paper Cat Punch out with black ink and then tied one of the Spider Elements around it's neck as a bit of added Halloween flair.

Hand Stamped Sentiments #299

How about Flirty Flamingo, Gorgeous Grape, and Night of Navy for a color challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments?  I blended the three colors while painting with rubber stamps to create my very own custom background/patterned paper.
The "dream" and the top layer of the dreamcatcher are cut from Glossy White Cardstock which was painted with the three challenge colors and the tree log stamp image from Winter Woods.

Dashing Along and Lots of Thinlits

This week was monumental for me.  I went Live on Facebook to share projects and a class focusing on the Dashing Along Designer Series Papers.  That's right I made a video!  You should never say never because never could be someday and that's what happened for me.  I said I would never do another video because they are too much work, but Live on FB is a piece of cake.  Jump over to my Facebook page and look for my video if you want.
This post features another card seen on my Facebook Live Video--here are close up pics!

My card includes lots of pieces of the  Dashing Along DSP and several framelits/thinlits sets.  I used the Dashing Deer Framelits, Pretty Pines Thinlits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, and Merry Christmas Thinlits.  The last set is fast becoming a favorite, a must have, a perfect addition to my stash of supplies kind of die set.
If you scroll through my Blog to view older posts from this week and more you can see lots more Dashing Along cards and tags.  I wish you lots of happy Christmas crafting.

Dashing Along and Christmas Pines

You saw this card first on my Facebook Live Video--here are close up pics!

This card includes a full layer of the green on white book print paper from the Dashing Along DSP.  I  pulled out an all time favorite of mine the Christmas Pines Stamp Set and the Pretty Pines Thinlits.
This card is totally inspired by a card made by Cathy Caines.  She shared a fabulously awesome card on her Facebook Live video class which I could not wait to create one of my own.  I didn't have the same stamps and framelits, but I grabbed the Christmas Pines Stamp Set and Pretty Pines Framelits to whip up my own version.  Thanks Cathy for the inspiration.

Beautiful Promenade Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

I wish you a big welcome to our September Artisan Blog Hop.  The Petal Promenade Suite, which is jam packed with gorgeous products, is our focus this month.  Having just returned from Puerto Vallarta I had bright fully saturated colors, textural carved styled furniture, varieties of lush palm trees, coco frios, and zesty foods of all delicious sorts inspiring me.  For this hop I could not help myself from diving into all things bright and beautiful when making these cards.
A small surfing town situated just north of Puerto Vallarta is Sayulita.  In this quaint town the streets are lined with shops featuring crafts and handiwork by all sorts of artisans.  I wanted to shop all day!  I found myself soaking up all kinds of great inspiration.

With fond memories of Mexico fresh in my mind I went to work making these cards.  Each includes a hand made background paper painted with stamps.  To paint with stamps all you need are dye based ink pads, stamps, and Glossy White Cardstock.

Tips to Paint with Stamps

Just about any stamp works for this technique.  You can add as much or as little color as you wish.  Sometimes I completely fill the paper so no white is showing and other times I stamp and paint less.  The trick is to twist as you stamp or drag as you stamp and that's it!  The more color you add allows for more blending and takes longer to dry.
The painted cardstock is not only great for custom backgrounds, but I used the papers to stamp lots of the flowers and then cut with the matching dies.  For the second pair of cards I added a bit of design with the Pick a Pattern Washi Tape and the Rose Glimmer Paper.
Tip for the Glimmer Paper

Use a Sponge Brayer to intensify the color.  I added Melon Mambo Ink to the cut Rose Glimmer Paper leaves to better match my background and flowers.
These last two cards are truly reminiscent of the many embroidered blouses and beach coverups that are sold on the Malecon and in shops all over town.  My color combination for these is taken directly from a top I bought.
Tips for adding Dazzling Diamond Glitter

I like to use the Fine Tip Glue Pen to add Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the centers of the flowers.  The trick is to not use too much glue or the ink will bleed.
Thank you for letting me share my Mexican inspired Beautiful Promenade floral cards with you.  Now, are you in the mood for some more Beautiful Promenade inspiration?  Emma Goddard is where you are hopping to next and she has crafted some gorgeous things.  I am so glad she shares her sweet ideas with us all as she is brilliant.

Dashing Along and Buffalo Check

You saw this card first on my Facebook Live Video--here are close up pics!

This card includes some of the awesome Dashing Along DSP with the Dashing Deer Framelits and Merry Christmas Thinlits.  I have also included the Buffalo Check Stamp.
The strip of Flirty Flamingo took me by surprise.  I grabbed it and thought it might look okay and then when I stamped the greeting and layered it on the focal panel I was totally thrilled with how it popped and brought a splash of color to the design.

Another surprise on this card for me was the Buffalo Check image.  I was going for white on white, but when I pulled the paper from the stamp I was shocked at the color.  Ack!  My stamp looked clean but I guess it was still dirty with a bit of Soft Suede ink.  The look grew on me over time and I decided it looked pretty cool.
Check back tomorrow for another close up pic of my cards shared on my Facebook Live Video.
