Reflecting On #TGIF161

#TGIF161 #Lilypadlake #LakesideFramelits
Once again I am pulling out a favorite stamp set for a team challenge.  The latest challenge being hosted by the TGIF Challenge Blog is all about "reflections."
I use the Silicon Craft Mat to create a reflection on a card.  I do find that some inks work better than others.  For this card the reflection was stamped with Basic Black Archival Ink so I could watercolor in and around the image.  I have tried using Memento Ink with this technique so I could use blender pens, but I find the ink does not transfer as clearly.  It beads up in teeny tiny dots on the mat and then does't stamp/transfer as well, it almost has a stippled appearance.

To stamp a reflection:
1.  Ink up image and stamp onto a Silcon Craft Mat.
2.  Set a piece of cardstock on top of the mat and rub firmly to transfer the image.
3.  Carefully remove cardstock from the mat.
4.  Clean mat right away if using waterproof ink.
For this card I started with a piece of Shimmer White Cardstock and stamped the sky and water using the wavy line background images.  The sky is stamped with Soft Sky Ink and the pond water was stamped with Old Olive and Soft Suede and then watercolored with an Aquapainter.  Next, I stamped and transferred the reflection of the heron and added a bit more ink here and there.

Behind the diecut pieces of grass is a sponged background of grass.  You can see I made my own stencil using the same grass framelit from the Lakeside Framelits cut several times into a piece of Vellum Cardstock.  The heron and waterlilies are also cut from the same Lakeside Framelits.

  4. Love your card, Elizabeth! Raising your lily pads was an inspired addition that really makes your card stand out! I'm planning on making a card with hot air balloons for the challenge, and I think I'll use your lily pad idea to make my balloons pop out. Thanks for the inspiration! -Donna
