Creation Station Going Global

I love the first Sunday of the month!  It's the day the Creation Station gets to stamp and share our blog hop.  This month's theme is all about men, all things masculine be it for birthdays, graduations, fathers day, or anything dude like.

Are you ever stumped for what to get for some of the men/boys in your life?  I am.  But, I have a great idea.  I thought it would be fun to make a ten piece cake using the Cutie Pie Framelits.

For my cake all the black designer series papers are from the Going Global Paper Stack.  Don't they blend so awesomely?  They are totally perfect for guy stampin' stuff.  The greeting image is from the Sweet Stack set and are stamped with Delightful Dijon, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, and Basic Black on Very Vanilla.
The Cutie Pie Framelit set has so many workable pieces.  To make the candles I cut two pieces for each, glued them together, flaired the bottoms out, and adhered them to a 7/8" scallop circle.  This way they easily stand up on the cake.  The top of each banner is embellished with a Gold Glimmer scallop which is also cut from a piece from the Cutie Pie set.
To bring the entire cake together and give it a great finishing look I made a band to go around the outer edge.  I cut several 1" wide strips of Gold Glimmer paper long enough to wrap the entire cake.  I scored the strip every 2 7/8" to make a perfect fit.  The last touch was to add a simple tie of Pool Party Glitter Ribbon.  At first a had a foofy bow and added twine and sequins, but I took it all off to keep it more guy like.
Thanks for stopping by today.  If you click on to the next you will be arriving at the most talented Cindy Schsuster's blog.  I am absolutely positive she is sharing something fabulous.  If you go back I am sure Kathy Kartak has a true treat to share.

  2. Divine project, Elizabeth! I agree you didn't need the 'foofy bow' (that made me laugh) - the simple knot on the Gitter ribbon is perfect. D x
