Challenge Colors and Friends

I invited a couple friends to join along in our latest Hand Stamped Sentiments color challenge. Along with the stars of this challenge, Poppy Parade, Pool Party, and Daffodil Delight, I included Pear Pizzazz and Blushing Bride as co-stars for my card.

If you are a Paper Pumpkin subscriber you have this awesome second stamp set that was added to the kit.  I love the rain boot image and all the accessories to enhance the image, so I created an adorable focal image for my card using those stamps.

Here is what I used along with the stamps from the No Matter the Weather PP Kit:

• Thick Whisper White and Whisper White Cardstocks (I prefer to stamp on the lighter weight WW paper as the thick doesn't take images as well IMO).
• Pool Party Cardstock
• Basic Grey, Pool Party, Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, and Pear Pizzazz Inks
• Bird Ballad DSP
• Stitched Rectangles Dies
• Country Club Twine Combo Pack (I thinned out the medium twine down to 1/3 the thickness)

Monday Montage 161

Have you done any paper crafting using the Peaceful Poppies Suite?  This collection of stamps, papers, dies, and embellishments are off the charts awesome!  

I had narrow strips of Peaceful Poppies DSP left so, for this card I used those scraps to create a backdrop for some awesome die cuts.  I used both the Painted Labels and the Peaceful Poppies Dies to put together a focal point.  If you look close to the black floral centers you'll see they look shiny.  I coated them with some of the Fine Tip Glue to give them some light dimension and shine.

A few other products I used to complete this card were the Rectangle Stitched Dies, the Free as a Bird  Stamp Set, Read Red Ink, Red Rhinestones, and Linen Thread.

#TGIF257 Gold Dipped

Get your gold embossing powder out and take a dip into our technique challenge at #TGIF257.  For me this challenge was lots of good fun.  I had no idea what I was going to create when I sat at my stamp table.  Then I thought I would grab a Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Card and get to work dipping it in gold,

When I finished melting the gold embossing powder on the laser-cut card I thought it took on a Moroccan look and feel.  From that cue I knew just where to go to make this card.  I chose to mix lots of saturated tones with gold glitter and a mix of foils.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing: No Matter the Weather

Welcome welcome everyone to March's A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop.  This month's No Matter the Weather Kit is jam packed with awesomeness.

This first card is super, super cute.  It's an offset gatefold card made with two of the kit's preprinted notecards.  The two sides that create the gate are adhered to a piece of 5.5" x 4.25" piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock.  For the greeting I took my snips to cut the stamp image apart to be able to rearrange the words in a vertical alignment.  I do this all the time.  Do you cut apart your stamps?

Don't throw out the tissue that comes in your kit.  There are all kinds of things you can do with it.  I folded a piece of the tissue in half and used a pair of multi-bladed scissors to cut fringe.  This little gift is based on a Kraft Pillow Box and in real life this package is ADORABLE.  I will say it was not a fast project.  In fact it took some time to detail and finish with precision, but these days with shelter in place orders I have a bit more crafting time.

I love this card too!  It's a full 4.25" x 5.5" size made with a piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock. I used the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to cut one of the notecards and envelopes from the kit to set the stage for the pre-printed rain boot image.  It's clean and simple; I like it.

With this month's kit Stampin' Up! treated us to a second stamp set.  To that I say a big "thank you SU! for the very awesome set."  Having just recently returned home from Charleston South Carolina I was quickly drawn to the front porch image.  The image reminded me of all the homes and buildings painted with pastel hues in the French Quarter District.  What a fabulously inspiring city!

Hand Stamped Sentiments Circle Sketch

It's sketch time at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  For this layout I grabbed the Best Dressed Suite and the So Very Vellum Specialty DSP.  This embossed vellum is one of the offerings in Sale-a-bration's Second Release.  

This is one of those cards where the idea in my mind was good, but I feel the finished product is overworked.  Do you ever have those feelings?  There are things I love about this card like the shoes.  I totally cased Tammy Wilson with the addition of the jewels and that's a touch I love on this card.  I also love the soft purple tones and textures, stitching, and heat embossing.  So, what would I change? Just less stuff.

Best Dressed Monday Montage

Do you ever just make a complete catalog case?  I did with these sweet and spunky mini-tote bags with notecards.  The notecards were designed so perfectly I had to make some for myself.  Sometimes it's both fun and fulfilling to copy and learn from others.  This was just that and I love the way these turned out.  They made such adorable little gifts.

Stampin' Fancy Friday Favorite SAB

Picking a favorite is always close to impossible for me.  Choosing a favorite Sale-a-bration item is tricky because I enjoy lots of styles and I love gifts.  So, with each Sale-a-bration reward I've received I have truly loved stampin' and creating.  Recently I've been making cards with the Lilypad Dies.  I am totally drawn to the intricate and detailed dies in the set.  For this card I paired the dies with the Seriously You're the Best Stamp Set, a must have set found in the current Mini Catalog.

The lily on this card is ultra textural in real life.  I started with a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock and applied Shimmering Embossing Paste which was colored with a few drops of Blushing Bride Ink Refill.  Once the paste was dry I cut the flower using one of the Lilypad Dies.  I did the same thing for the stem except I swiped the colored paste on a piece of Bermuda Bay Cardstock.

For the background I started with a bit of stamping using the foliage image from the Seriously You're the Best Stamp Set and then I added three of the boarder pieces cut from the Lilypad Dies. The colors are Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, and Blushing Bride.  The greeting is heat embossed with Whisper White EP on a piece of Grey Granite.

HSS #334 Lovely Lily Pad

It's inspiration board challenge time at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  As this challenge goes live I have been traveling along the Florida coast and have seen tons of shore birds and amazing foliages in and near the water.  Speaking of water I spritzed water all over Pigment Sprinkles to create pools of intense color for my Lovely Lily Pad card.

Creation Station Cream of the Crop Shake Up

Being the first Sunday of the month it means it's time for our Creation Station Blog Hop.  For March our theme was quite fun.  We were to pick our favorite stamp set, or bundle, and create an interactive card that flips, shakes, rattles, rolls, spins, or twists.  And that is just what my card does, it twists when you open it to reveal a mini-memory surprise.

There is an awesome video tutorial write up at Splitcoast Stampers on how to make a Twisted Pop-Up Card.  I followed the step by step directions to make my Tropical Oasis Twisted Pop-Up Card.

First, for the front I decorated a crisp white pineapple with a couple florals and leaves from the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set and a white embossed greeting on Basic Black from the Seriously You're the Best Stamp Set.

Here's a side view of my card.  It's a bit chunky.  If I were to mail it, it would for sure need extra postage.

I used several cards from the Timeless Topical Memories and More Card Pack to decorate the inside of my twisted pop-up mini-memory card.  I did some fussy cutting to customize several of the cards.  I included a bit of stamping using the Make a Difference Stamp Set to do some low key journaling.  My ink colors were Basic Black and Terracotta Tile.
