Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge

This card is all about the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper.  You see all the layers and images except the greeting were cut from the pattern papers using the Animal Outing Framelits--even the backwards images.

That's right you can do it.  You can cut any images that are the opposite direction of the framelit.  How?  Turn the paper over and hold it up against a window with lots of sunlight passing through.  You will be able to see through the paper to align the framelit.  Just tape it in place using washi and then cut it out with your Big Shot.  Try it and you will see how easy it is and that you just doubled your framelits/thinlits.

Blended Seasons for Monday Montage

Hello and welcome to all our Monday Montage stampin' friends!  For this hop I am sharing a light hearted "congratulations" card featuring the Blended Seasons Stamps, Framelits, and Watercolor Pencils Assortment #2.

When making a new card I often start with a piece of DSP and I let it inspire and guide me along as to what to do.  There is a design in the Petal Promenade pack that is a soft Petal Pink with bokeh spots that totally caught my eye and became the motivation for my color palette and a wedding card.  My colors include Highland Heather, Grey Granite, Whisper White, and Petal Pink.

I decided to show off the beautifully detailed Stitched Seasons Framelits by inlaying one of the label dies right in the middle of my card.  The BEST thing about these label dies is that they have a double stitching detail that splits the actual cutting blade so you get stitches on the label and what's left behind the window.

On the label I piled lots of greenery for a place to add a pair of wedding bells.  I work with brides everyday at work and lately they all say the same thing..."I want lots of greenery."  So in keeping with the trend, I have a "lots of greenery."  I colored the leaves with the Watercolor Asst. 2 set and fussy cut them.  Next I layered in some Dazzling Diamonds Shimmer Paper cut leaves to add sparkle and more visual interest.  The wedding bells were cut with the Stitched Seasons Framelits and then colored with the pencils and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.  Over the glitter I added a thin coating of Fine Tip Glue which gives a bit of a texture and shine.

#TGIF169 Feeling the Heat

#TGIF169 is a hot one!

We are busting out our heat tools to emboss for the current challenge at TGIF.

I mixed things up and bit when putting this card together.  I started with one of the Whisper White Large Memories and More Card s and Envelopes.  The main black layer is on of the Delightfully Detailed Memories and More Cards and then I added all the fun stuff.  A strip of Lemon Lime Twist anchors my heat embossed "wish" and several party hats and candles.

The "wish" comes from the Broadway Birthday Stamp Set and it heat embossed with Gold EP.  Once the powder was melted and still hot I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds Glitter for a touch of added sparkle.  I used the Broadway Lights Framelits to cut the party hats and the row of diamonds.  To really bring out the heat embossed "wish" I taped a piece of Gold Glimmer Paper to fill the diamond holes.  The striped Lemon Lime Twist paper is from the Broadway Birthday DSP pack.

Broadway Bound Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Greetings from San Jose California and welcome to July's Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop.  Did you just see Connie's retro inspired cards?  I think they are super cool.  I am glad you are here to see what I have designed for this month's hop.

This month it's all about the super fabulous Broadway Birthday Suite.  The stamps, framelits, specialty designer series papers, and embellishments are a great combination of perfectly coordinating products perfect for your stash of supplies.  The great thing about birthday products is you can never have enough! There are always birthdays to be celebrate.

For this hop I put together some birthday banner decor that doubles as packaging.  That's right the fun of these banner garlands is that you can fill them with tiny treats, gift cards, and money before you hang and decorate for a birthday celebration.

My "happy" banner is constructed on the new Kraft Pillow Boxes and the "wishes" is made with the Mini Pizza Boxes.  I love the use of the boxes as it gives visual weight and presence to the overall look.  The 1/2" Black Satin Ribbon is the perfect compliment to string the boxes all together.

Each of the Mini Pizza Boxes include a couple layers of cardstock, a layer of Broadway Birthday Specialty DSP,  circles cut from the Layering Circles Framelits, and Gold Glimmer letters cut from the Large Letters Framelits.  To make each box extra special I added all kinds of Broadway Birthday stamped images, Metallic Pearls, and Adhesive Backed Sequins.

Since I decided to not close the top of the Kraft Pillow Boxes, I used the Circle Tab Punch to have "loops" for the ribbon.  The ribbon is secured in each tab with Solid Black Bakers Twine and Silver Mini Sequins Trim.  I have to say I do like the look of the solid and pattern papers with both silver foil and gold glimmer.  It just adds that certain umph and pow.

Lilypads and a Heron

It's inspiration board time over at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  Check it out it's a beautiful set of photos gathered together to spark all kinds of inspiration. 

For the challenge I decided to grab one of my favorite stamp sets, Lilypad Lake and it's matching Lakeside Framelits, to design a card with a bit of Pool Party, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, and Melon Mambo.

I stamped the images in Black Stazon on Whisper White so I could do a quick and simple watercolor detailing of each piece.  Once the pieces were dry I cut them out using the matching framelits.  I added some of the white accents from last year's catalog and a scrap of ticket paper from my leftovers.  You see I keep punched and cut bits and pieces from earlier projects that I don't use in a jar in my stamp cabinet.  When I feel like a card needs just a little something to give it that last finishing detail I go to that jar and usually find just just what I need.

Birthday Kabob for Monday Montage

How about something a bit different?  Try making a birthday kabob.  Use the new Petite Treat Framelits to make "sour cream" boxes and slide them onto a bamboo skewer to make unique packaging and gift giving extra fun.

Break out some fancy patterned papers and have some fun mixing and matching prints.  I grabbed the Broadway Birthday Specialty DSP to make two of the Petite Treat boxes/containers.  I also grabbed a Paper Piercer to poke holes in the middles of the sides to easily run the skewer through containers.  To the bottom I added a loopy bow of the Black 1/2" Satin Ribbon and Silver Mini Sequins Trim.  I find this keeps the containers in place.

To the top I added all kinds of party themed bits and pieces.  The stamps are all from the Broadway Birthday Stamp Set and I cut them out using the Broadway Lights Framelits.   My ink colors include Lovely Lipstick, Lemon Lime Twist, Grey Granite, and Black Stazon.  The Metallic Pearls add jus the finishing touch to the party hats.

Follow Your Dreams

With my very first trip through the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog the number one new product that grabbed my eye was the Follow Your Dreams Clear Mount Stamp Set (item 146620).  It remained at the top of my wish list until June 1st when I could, at long wait, order the stamp set.  Of course I had to also get the coordinating Chase Your Dreams Framelits Dies (item 146826) so I bought the Follow Your Dreams Bundle (item 148370) to save 10%!

When I sit down to stamp I collect a bunch of supplies that look great together and create with just those items.  I find this saves me time in going back and forth to grab things, my work space is less cluttered (don’t get me wrong I can make a mess of my stamp table), and it generates thinking outside the box.  For these four cards I kept to the supplies I gathered and my basics which include: Stampin’ Dimensionals (item 104430), Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue (item 110755), Mini Glue Dots (item 103683), an Aqua Painter (item 103954), and a Stampin’ Spritzer (item 126185).

To start this card I used the Stampin' Spritzer filled with water to wet a panel of Shimmery White Cardstock (item 101910).  My next step was to stamp the dreamcatcher image with a Blushing Bride Classic Stampin’ Pad (item 147100).  While the stamped panel of cardstock was still wet I ran it through the Big Shot (item 143263) and the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (item 143706).  For the Silver Glimmer Paper (item 146960) dreamcatcher I used the Precision Base Plate (item 139684) for a clean and easy cut of the die.  The floral images were stamped on Soft Sea Foam Cardstock (item 146988) with Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin’ Pad (item 147088).  The greeting is stamped with both Granny Apple Green (item 147095) and Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin’ Pads.  To anchor and connect the dreamcatchers I added a strip of Tropical Escape 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper (item 146916) and skinny strip of Silver Glimmer Paper.   The card is embellished with Petal Pink Rhinestones (146914) and Silver & Pink Baker’s Twine (146288).

I started my second card the same as my first by spritzing a panel of Shimmery White Cardstock.  To that I added a bit of a pink and green watercolor wash with Granny Apple Green, Soft Sea Foam (item 147102), and Blushing Bride (item 147100) Classic Stampin’ Pads and while still wet I embossed with the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder.  Behind the dreamcatcher I added loops of Rose Metallic Thread (item 146915).  The “dream” die cut was watercolored with a mix of ink from Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce Classic Pads.  The entire decorated panel is layered on a piece of Granny Apple Green Cardstock (item 146990) and a side fold card base of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock.

For my third card I layered my focal elements on a piece of the Tropical Escape 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper, a panel of embossed Blushing Bride Cardstock, and a Whisper White Thick Cardstock (item 140272) top fold card base.

I have a couple tips to share from my next two cards.  Tip #1:  from the feathery dreamcatcher die cut you can clip out a seven-point flower.  I added these clipped flowers to the centers of the adorned dreamcatchers for that added finishing touch.  Tip #2:  for the two-tone greetings ink up the entire image with the lightest color first.  Next, ink up just a small part of the stamp with the darker ink and then use a Sponge Dauber (item 133773) to blend the two colors for a blended and harmonious appearance.

My final, and favorite, card is filled with all the same elements and ideas as the first three with one difference.  I tucked a Vellum Cardstock (item 101856) dreamcatcher in between the larger Blushing Bride dreamcatcher and the Shaded Spruce feathers.
