Monday Montage For the Birds

Hi and welcome to another fabulous installment of our Monday Montage Blog Hop.  For me this hop is "for the birds."  That's right, I am showing you cards made with the heron image from the Lilypad Lake Stamp Set.  All of these cards were made for the Las Vegas Onstage Event.  I think I was channeling my inner Golden Girl when I was making this batch of cards.  This would explain why they all have a bit of a Miami Florida circa 1980s style and color palette.

Ink colors for these two cards include:  Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Powder Pink, Daffodil Delight, Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz, Bermuda Bay, and Island Indigo along with Basic Black Archival Ink.

All the birds were watercolored with an Aquapainter and the "squeeze the lid" of the ink pads technique.

For this card I used the wavy line image to stamp a piece of cardstock with Soft Sky and Soft Suede. Next I ran the stamped piece through Big Shot using the wavy live framelit from Lakeside.  Then I layered a bunch of the herons which I didn't do a thing except stamp and cut with the Lakeside Framelits.  The congratulations banner is also cut with a piece from the Lakeside Framelits.

These next two cards have backgrounds painted with the wavy line image on Glossy White Cardstock.

Tic Tac #TGIF157

I just love these Tic Tac Toe game challenges.  We are hosting another game time challenge for any and all of you who want to join along.  Check us out at #TGIF157, it's game on!

So I have been super sneaky with my three in a row.  Can you figure it out?

If you guessed the top row you are a winner!  My flowers include some light and medium pink tones and the pearls well that is where it's subtle.  The Share What You Love DSP include pearlescent touches and on this card the blush-pink fussy cut flower is pearlized.  The scallop detail on the bottom of the label is also pearlescent.  That detail was cut from one of the new Pearlized Doilies.

Stampin' Sneak Peek

Earlier this month Stampin' Up! hosted events all around the world for Demonstrators called Onstage.  A those events the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalog was unveiled, stamp presentations inspired attendees, business ideas were shared, make-n-takes were put together, swaps were abundant, thoughtful gifts were given, and new products were on display.  I love these events for the social mini vacation, but I also really enjoy seeing all the new stuff up close and personal.  

This hop is all about sharing with you some of the hand made projects made for the displays and presentations at Onstage.  I attended the Las Vegas Onstage event and was so honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to present a showcase for the Lilypad Lake Stamp Set and the Lakeside Framelits.  While my presentation featured four samples (shared in an earlier hop) I made bunches and bunches of cards featuring the set and framelits.  I totally went crazy.  Why?  because the bundle was SO user friendly and I was inspired to make another card with each card I completed.

For this hop I am sharing a few samples featuring the sailboat image and matching framelit.

The larger label framelit in the Lakeside set makes a perfect and interesting background for smaller focal panels.  This stamp set is perfect for coloring--just pick you favorite method.  My favorite pick is watercoloring; it's quick and easy.

This porthole card includes a bit of stamp kissing to create a reflection.  I used the wavy line image to stamp the reflection and an Aquapainter to watercolor the images.

A subtle white wash of ink and Pool Party ink splatters create depth, texture, and help to anchor the grass cut outs, the label, and the porthole.

The background for this card happened by accident.  I didn't use the Precision Base Plate AND I ran the wavy line framelit piece parallel to the roller in the Big Shot.  When you pass it through that way it WILL NOT cut all the way though.  Instead you get an embossed look.  I did add a few pieces of wash tape on the backside to hold some pieces in place that cut deeper.

The next two cards include custom background paper using the wavy line image as a paintbrush.  You have to use White Glossy Paper for this technique to work.  I demoed this painting on glossy at Onstage and showed how to make woodgrain, but it also works for all kinds of looks.  It's addicting so buy lots of glossy white cardstock :0)

This background was painted with Soft Sky, Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay, and Marina Mist.

Pink Dahlias in a Crate

It's an inspiration board challenge of the next two weeks at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  I'm sure you can tell from my card that I was inspired by the "love" crate on the left side of the board.

Sunshine and Rainbows Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Welcome to my Seeinginkspots Blog and April's Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop.  This month we are showcasing hand stamped creations using the Sunshine and Rainbows Photopolymer Bundle.

A few weeks ago I was flying to Boise Idaho and we had just taken off.  It had been raining all morning, but finally the sun came out, the perfect conditions for rainbows.  We were only in the air about two minutes when I noticed we were flying right next to the top of the rainbow--I had a once in a lifetime chance to be face to face with a bright and glorious medley of perfect color.

While the Sunshine and Rainbows Bundle is designed to make rainbow scenes my mind saw the images and framelits and instantly thought watermelons.  Once I get a vision in my mind it's hard to shake it, so why not just go with it.  So, I have whipped up some bright and cheery watermelon themed rainbow cards complete with seeds!  That's right the raindrop image makes perfect seeds and the Glitter and Clear Epoxy Shapes are the best added touch to give them a dimensional touch.

I love this quick trick to add large rick rack edges to a card.  To make the fancy edges cut a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock and fold in half.  Put the long side of the cardstock against the edge of the Envelope Punch Board with the end at the 5" marking.  The next step is to punch, then move the cardstock to the 4" marking and punch.  Repeat at 3", 2", and 1".  Below the photo shows the first side completed.

Flip the cardstock over and repeat.  That's it, you're done.

My first and second cards both include the Simple Stripes TIEF.  I think the stripes are a great way to echo the stripes of the rainbows.  For all three cards I heat embossed the greetings.  I found that Versamark and White Embossing Powder were the best mix for a clear and crisp look.

My last card came together after getting a fat ink smudge on my completed watermelon rainbow.  It broke my heart to just toss it out, so I cut the smear off and then sliced what was left into wedges--cute don't you think?

Autism Awareness Blog Hop 2018

To all of you visiting my Seeinginkspots Blog I give you a warm welcome and say "hello."

Today I am participating in something different and something oh so important.  I’ve teamed up with other Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators to Stamp Out Autism.

I remember years ago

sitting with a bunch of my cousin's at a beach house in Capistrano.  My cousin's wife was talking about one of her son's and how autism was effecting their lives.  After getting help on learning how to handle everyday experiences with children affected by autism she felt comfortable to reveal the bumps and issues she faced daily.  One experience she shared seemed so minor yet her willingness to go to the extra mile made all the difference in creating a positive-loving outcome.

Her son liked a particular brand of peach yogurt.  Not so much for the flavor, but for the container in which it was sold.  You see he had to maintain his EXACT routine to stay calm and happy.  One day she was stressed to learn the yogurt was being discontinued, so she bought all that she could find.  When the yogurt was gone she lovingly cleaned each container and refilled them with another brand of peach yogurt.  I was glad she shared and opened up with us so we could listen and support her.  Over the years I have learned more about autism and I am thankful for that early eye opening experience.  As I meet parents whose children battle the effects of autism I am able to support them with love and offer them my patience.

For my card

I started with base of Thick Whisper White Cardstock which I spritzed wth Pool Party Ink Refill mixed with water in a Mini Mister.  I stamped small flowers with Pool Party from the Number of Years Stamp Set.  For the focal point of my card I had in my mind a ribbon "l" followed by the "ove." I hand cut the ribbon and then used the Large Letters Framelits to finish.

From Pool Party, Soft Sea Foam, Soft Sky, Marina Mist, and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer I cut eight total flower bundles from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits and clipped them apart to add to my "l" ribbon.  Tucked here and there are Basic Rhinestones and Brights Enamel Shapes.

Two last details for my card include a Soft Sea Foam strip of cardstock stamped with the greeting "side by side" from the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set in Marina Mist Ink and a shoestring tie of Dapper Denim Bakers Twine.

Monday Montage Blog Hop

Welcome to another Monday Montage Blog Hop.  We are nine SU! Demonstrators who love to share what we create.  We hop every other week so don't forget to be back in two weeks.

For this hop I decided to share with you all an awesome experience I had at the Las Vegas Onstage.  It was a privilege and honor to present at Onstage and to work with Brandi Barnard.  I shared the Lilypad Lake Stamp Set and the Lakeside Framelits.  What a BLAST!  What a memory to treasure.

Showcasing the simplicity and power of the background image was my focus for my first card.  With the simple technique of stamping off and one image I made a sky, a horizon line, water, shoreline, and sand.  This was the first card I made when I received the stamp set and it was at that moment that realize the power in the wavy line background image.  It's a MAGIC stamp.

Quick tip for this card:  Slice the bottom of the sun and glue it to the horizon line to give the illusion of the sun setting.

For my second card I used the wavy line background image to create a sailboat reflection.  I inked up the background stamp with Soft Sky and inked the sailboat stamp with Island Indigo, then kissed the boat image to the background stamp.  Huff, stamp on Shimmer White, and watercolor with an Aquapainter.  I used new In Colors for the boats; Pineapple Punch, Grapefruit Grove, and Lovely Lipstick. 

My third card gives you a sneak peek at three new colors; Petal Pink in the birds, Soft Sea Foam, and Granny Apple Green.  The card base is Powder Pink which pairs beautifully with the Petal Pink.

My focus for my third card was to share the tips are properly aligning the wavy line piece in the Lakeside Framelits Set.  Take a look at the picture below and you will notice that three sides are straight and share while the fourth edge, which I like to consider the top, has a curve.  That curve is the exact shape of the bottom/last wavy cut.  Knowing that detail will make it so you can align and space the framelit to perfectly cut the image again if you want.

My fourth sample features the wavy line background image used as both a stamp and a paintbrush.  I shared how to create customized woodgrain paper using a painting/swiping/streaking technique on Glossy White Cardstock.  There are three layers of ink; Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, and Early Espresso.  With each layer of ink you get lighter handed with the application.
