Creation Station Thankful Blog Hop

I am super jazzed to let you all know that I am stampin' and hoppin' with the Creation Station Design Team.  With this being my first hop with them I want to say welcome new friends and old to my blog SeeingInkSpots!  You have just arrived from the fabulous Cindy Schuster's blog where you were blown away with total awesomeness.
This month's theme is "thankful" and what could be better?  I am always grateful for all of life's blessings and challenges.  Along with the thankful theme we are playing with washi tape.  I love the stuff because one roll goes a super long way and for not too much money.

As I was brain storming what new thing I could do with washi tape I thought why not unroll the tape and fold it back and forth like the ribbon frosting technique?  Of course this thought came at about 2:30 a.m.  So, what does any avid stamper do?  They get up and try it!  So, there I was in the dark with my dog by my side trying "washi frosting!"  It turned out fluffy and fun and made a background unlike any other I have made.

I love the text graphic images from the Me=Grateful stamp set which are a perfect fit for this month's thankful theme.  I inked two coordinating images up with Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush, and Bermuda Bay Stampin' Write Markers, stamped them on Whisper White card stock, and then cut them out with the Lots of Labels Framelits.  A stack of "thanks," from the Greetings Thinlets, finished the text block for just a bit more texture and depth.
I had another idea that I wanted to try with washi tape, but for this one I waited 'til moring.  I first covered a piece of Whisper White card stock with strips of Cherry on Top washi tape.  Then I cut a Spiral Flower on my Big Shot, rolled it up, and then hot glued it in place.  I added a few clips with a pair of Paper Snips in between each petal to be able to fold the petals back and like that my patchwork style washi flower took shape.  To finish the center of the flower I added an Iced Rhinestone on top of a 1/2" Watermelon Wonder card stock circle.
I embellished a Square Pillow Box with my spiral patchwork washi tape flower and a simple tag stamped with another image from the Me=Grateful set.  When making these pillow boxes I like to combine a piece of DSP with a piece of card stock to give these little boxes a bit more sturdiness.  Plus it stretches my DSP if I am doing a make-n-take or mass producing.  I almost always wrap my decor around the glued sides of the box so I can easily open the boxes to add whatever fun goodie will get packed inside.
